About The Mental Hug
Hi, everyone! I’m Brenton Guice. I’m a dental hygienist turned provisionally licensed professional counselor working in private practice. My life flipped a switch in 2016 when my great-grandmother passed away and I began to shift my focus in life learning how to live with grief, experience gratitude, and pursue fulfillment.
All this time, since her passing, closing my eyes and feeling her hug gets me through challenging times. The Mental Hug she keeps giving carries, uplifts, and inspires me. If a 101-year-old deceased woman can make me feel loved, it is my passion to pass that unconditional love and acceptance onto those I work with and meet along the way.
This newsletter is an encapsulation of knowing that hugs don’t have to be physical and that souls deserve hugs, too.
The Mental Hug blog/newsletter is free and something I’ve been passionate about building, nurturing, and sharing with the world. It’s ever growing and will continue to evolve over time.
I’ve learned to shed the need for perfection and trying to appeal to the masses. You can expect mental health focused postings, journal entries, community conversation questions, and a space to experience a virtual hug!
